WordPress Developer Wanted
So, I’ve been pretty busy lately. Lots of good stuff going on. While I’m not closing in on the 1%, I am busy enough that I need some weekly support for smaller tasks, moderate projects and even client support when I’m away.
I’d like to get a good WordPress Developer on retainer for 20-30 hours a month.
That’s about 8 hours a week max, hopefully starting in January of 2012. Are you interested? I’m kind of picky about my food, my women and people who interact with my work/clients — so keep reading.
What the hell would I be doing?
You’d be accepting requests assigned to you by me (or a client if they are frequent enough that you should be in direct communication). Requests would be in my Sifter account (issue tracker) and include things like:
- WordPress database/file backups
- Core and plugin updates
- Custom theme and template file creation/modification
- Custom plugin creation/modification
- Miscellaneous content creation
- Miscellaneous HTML/CSS work
- Possible hosting/DNS setup/management (CPanel/WHM, RackSpace Cloud)
- Possible work supporting a custom PHP app if you’re comfortable
- Anything you have time for that I need that you’re comfortable with in the scope of your expertise
Does this describe you?
- You can build WordPress themes/plugins from scratch
- You believe in solutions, not solutioneering
- You do not need to rely on a PHP or Theme Framework to get things done
- You have at least one (1) plugin in the WordPress Plugin Repository
- You have a strong knowledge of WordPress core API’s and coding standards
- You can use Google, the WordPress Codex, logic and common sense
- You can provide at least three (3) references to paying clients
- You have attended at least one WordCamp
- You understand PHP 5 and basic object-oriented principles
- You understand HTML(5), CSS(3) and some basic Javascript/jQuery
- You will tell me if you think I’m doing something wrong if you see it in my code and can handle me talking to you, i.e. we learn together as needed and do not have pissing contests – I don’t do that.
That probably looks like a long list but it’s actually pretty basic if you’re a full-time professional.

I love my clients, they love me and trust me. Fill this out and let’s talk.
